Effective immediately (5 December 2006), Tigerfly is no longer operating. We didn’t go broke, we aren’t bankrupt (neither are we rich!), we haven’t been closed down, but after 21 years we have decided that we have had enough. It is becoming more difficult to operate a vintage aeroplane commercially and so we are shutting up shop.
Thank you to all the people who have helped us over the years and especially those who have flown with us (even the very few who actually needed the waterproof disposal bag!).
Apologies if you were hoping to buy one of our vouchers for a Christmas present. You might try Tiger Airways instead.
Tigerfly styled itself as the World's Smallest Airline with some justification, the fleet consisted of a single aircraft with just one passenger seat available per flight!
Tigerfly operated one De Havilland Tiger Moth (DH82a), built at Cowley, near Oxford, during 1940. We operated out of Wycombe Air Park (Booker) - 30 miles west of central London, England, from autumn 1986 until December 2006 and flew over 5,000 passengers.
Trips were usually along the Thames between Marlow and Henley each weekend, weather permitting, from April through October. (except for the first winter, when we were desperate for income, so we operated right through until the end of February! Gosh it was cold!)
