The nice thing about this book is that its full of humour and action, but not the standard knights in shining armor on a battlefield kind of action as it is with most fantasy books. While the latter is fun to read as well, it is nice to get a break from those epic type fantasies, and that is exactly what Artemis Fowl delivers, albiet in a more teen friendly way.

An interesting storyline combined with good humor and a very interesting main character makes this a great read for teens.

This is the second one I have purchase, the first was a gift for my Dad. Since he loved it so much I decided to get one for myself. Up until now I had been using the Kindle iPod version for my iPod Touch and iPhone. The downside with reading on the iPod/iPhone was the screen size, the glare and the back-lit screen was a little straining on my eyes after a while. Here are my positives and negatives with my new Kindle device:

Positives:
1- No glare, easy on the eyes and good size – it really does read like a paperback book page.
2- Instant wireless connection that you don’t pay to use.
3- Buy new hardback editions instantly without the cost or the heft(I no longer have to wait for the paperback version to come out).
4- The archives, since I had already purchased books using my iPod, I was able to access and download them to my new Kindle immediately.
5- Battery life has been excellent, with the wireless on or off. I usually keep it turned off.
6- Syncs automatically, if you read some pages on say your iPhone and then go home and read your Kindle it updates where you left off on the other device, as long as your wireless is on that is.
7- I no longer have to worry about what to do with all the paperbacks I have already read. You will understand if you read as much as I do. No more stacks of books or Trader Joe bags full of books waiting to be given away. It really is a stress reliever.

Negatives:
1- Difficult to search for books from the device/menus are not all that easy to navigate.
2- With the cover and everything its a a little heavier than a paperback book (but is lighter than a hardback).
3- The size is also a little inconvenient sometimes, though it is thin it is still bigger than a paperback and doesn’t fit in my purse so I can’t take it everywhere I go. In those cases I read on my iPhone.

Overall so far the positives greatly outweigh the negatives, and I am very happy.

HDMI cables are built to a certain standard otherwise they are not HDMI cables, simple. They carry digtal information so they either work 100% or they do not. This cable works great and it was inexpensive, recommended.

It’s amazing to me the garbage you can put in a book and people come along like lemmings and buy it. Amazing. I really need to write a book of my own.

The author is a liberal nut. He may also be a genius to make so much money off of such ridiculous jibber-jabber.

If you really want to have a “conversation with God”, just pick up a bible somewhere and read it. You probably already have a bible in your house so you won’t even have to buy anything.

If you want a fictional and entertaining “conversation with God”, rent the movie “Oh God” and enjoy the entertainment.

This book is garbage.

I bought this vacuum for myself, but when my Gma’s vacuum died I took it over to her to “borrow”. I never got it back. She loves it! It’s lightweight, powerful and handy with all the tools. I am buying myself another one.

As a gamer, I’m pretty hand on ‘boards. So when I first heard about this one through a friend of mine, I was rather impressed with the over all look of the thing. For one, I liked the idea of illuminated keys (as I like to play my games in low lighting to let the better half sleep), for two, re-enforced keys made sence, and metal meant it’d be hard for me to do much damage to it (On my wolfclaw board the AWSD had worn off).
As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when it showed up.
It does live up to the hype-however…
The keys are slightly smaller, the interface for programming macros leaves a lot to be desired, and the driver software installed drivers for stuff I don’t even own!
Another downside: The lack of a blue color-while not a breaker, most of my system (Fan, general illumination) are blue. Again, not a big deal, but most other illuminated boards (including Saitek’s own) have that option. This is merely a personal opinion-it’s still a great keyboard.

I’ve not noticed any stiffness in the space bar as was previously mentioned in a previous review, and the ability to ride several keys at once is a definate plus. While I’ve only had it a few days, it seems robust and very quiet when typing. Another great thing about this board is that it’s a standard size-you won’t need to jerry rig anything unlike a few other gamer boards I’ve had, and the controls for hue, brightness and scheme are very intuitive. In other words, easy enough to figure out w/o the instruction booklet.

All in all, an excellent buy in my opinion. You’d do well to buy this one.

Actually my review is somewhat similar to the previous review by W. Cooper. I, like him, didn’t find much resources about this lens, but was confused between the Tamron & the Nikon long range lenses, I was about to go with the Nikon 18-200mm because I felt that the Tamron 18-270mm lens didn’t really get good reviews and I didn’t like the fact that it was slow in focusing. And boy am I glad that I waited for this one. I think I gambled (being an early adopter) and it worked.

Its really a great all around lens which is exactly what I was looking for (I hate changing lenses). The best thing about it is that its really pretty fast in focusing at 250mm, maybe even faster than my D90 kit lens the Nikon 18-105mm. It really is a HSM equipped lens, I saw a few threads in forums about ppl debating this fact, so rest assured it has a motor. The OS is working as it should at maximum zoom as well so no issues here. I have been using it for a couple of days only to be fair, but I’m very excited about it and about the quality of the images I have took so far. I’m taking it out for a full test in the next few days, if I feel that things weren’t perfect I will update this review. I didn’t notice a lens creep (yet!), but in any case there is a lock switch on the lens, this switch will only work when the lens is at 18mm. I noticed that when you are trying to shoot close-ups at 250mm, the lens wont focus properly if you are too close to the subject, manual focus will still work though and you can take a clear sharp picture. The make and the body of the lens feels nice and durable as well, it doesn’t feel cheap at all.

In the end I have to say that this baby will beat the Tamron 18-270mm lens hands down, and surely the Nikon 18-200 if you want a bigger zoom. And the price is surely worth it and acceptable.

Update: I think I was wrong about close-up focus, it still focus pretty well and fast at close range while at maximum zoom.

Update 2: I have uploaded some pics in Picasa
