This is a fantastic device. I’m finding it to be a great inspiration and it makes it so easy to keep a journal that I’m actually doing it for the first time in my life. I’m currently working through the Couch 2 5K plan with it. I bought it about the end of week 5, got it for the last run of Week 6 and have been using it for the plan and for all my walks to and from the train. Great stuff.

I’m using the included software, plus the Garmin Connect site. Love Garmin Connect. I’m also using SportTracks 3.0, the shareware version but it is no longer freeware and I’m not sure I want to spend the money to upgrade since I’m already pretty happy with Garmin Connect. I don’t even mind the Training Center software. It’s great for a quick overview of the current week’s activities.

I’ve also joined DailyMile.com, which is sort of a FaceBook for runners. The Garmin can sync’ to that site as well. Cool possibilities.

In summary — I love the device and recommend it to anyone who is trying to get back into running or who wants the ability and freedom to just take off and run and still know distance, pace and heart rate infro.
Lexmark #4 #5 Black

The Furminator works better than expected. It rakes out the undercoat on my black lab. There is still some hair in the house but probably is now reduced by about 75%. If you’ve got a lab, get a Furminator.

After hearing about it for so long, on vacation, I finally got around to tackling J.D Salinger’s classic. And just like the protagonist himself – I dont even know what the hell to think about the goddamn book. I really don’t.
As Holden begins his tale, apparently from a hospital of some sort, he takes us back to the recent past where he is struggling in every possible way as a high school student at Percy Prep ( A high – end sleep away school in Agerstown PA.) From there, the book is just one long Goddamn story Holden conveys to us, which includes encounters with teachers, peers, and other random people as he gets kicked out of Percy and returs to his home town: New Yory City.
As I am reading about Holdens escapades, I start to feel as if I know him… well. Holden’s story is shared with us – the readers – in a very conversationsl style; as If Holden and I were sitting in a coffee shop somewhere and he was simply filling me in on the last 12 months of his life. And I find myself relating to his story in two distinct ways:
First, it is obvious that he is in that akward stage that occurs somewhere between childhood and adulthood – terribly frusturated with everyone and everything, struggling to make sense of all that is happening around him. I too suffered through that stage and probobly would have connected with the charachter on an even deeper level had I read the classic back then.
Second, I am appreciating the descriptive and revealing sights and sounds of New York City, having been raised in Queens, spending much time in NYC growing up.
As this fairly ammusing story prgresses, I find myself ” rooting for Holden” – hoping that at the end he will become “enlightened”, turn a corner, get his act together.
Ultiamtely, I find myself wanting more – wanting to know how my friend Holden turns out. But for better or worse, as this ammusing tale winds down, the future and fate of Holden Caulfield is left to the imagination of the reader.

KitchenAid Set of 4

I had to upgrade because I bought a new computer and my 2003 license was expired. This is a GREAT replacement for the 2003 Microsoft Office! I can’t say more about it. It was shipped to me as described when I purchased it and within minutes of receiving it I had it installed and running flawlessly!!! A MUST BUY!!!!
GTMax GPS 4 3

This is the first time I get an Ipod. Have to say very fun to use.
For Apple iPhone 4

I bought this based on a positive review in a magazine. We’ve cleaned two rooms in our house with it and were pleased with the result. Based on other reviews, we pre-treated tough stains, then only used boiling water in the cleaning reservoir. The only negative is that it’s time-consuming to fill and empty the reservoirs.

Yes, I am another one of those suckers that didn’t pay attention to the one star reviews for this item. I wanted to save a few bucks. I got this Transcend SDHC card for a Fuji HS10 camera and took several hundred photos with it. I really wanted to test it. It worked fine. For a while.

Then, at a conference, after I had taken about 300 photos with it, mostly of slide presentations, a major glitch happened. I had accidentally hit the record video button on the camera, and so I moved to delete this unwanted video. Now, I had done this “delete” function a number of times on the HS10 camera, and never had a problem. There is no way on the HS10 to accidentally delete ALL of your photos all at once with this delete button (you can do that only if you go through the main menu and activate the “format” function).

As soon as this video got deleted, this card decided that the rest of the stored photos, some 300 of them, also no longer existed.

Bummer. Fortunately the great Amazon 30-day warranty was still in effect, and I had saved the packaging. I ordered a Sandisk SDHC 30Mb/sec card (which does not run much faster on the HS10, by the way). Yesterday, the Sandisk card arrived, and so I sent this Transcend card back to Amazon today for a refund.

If you look at all the Amazon reviews, about 20% of the reviews (one star to three star) make some comment about the unreliability of this Transcend card. Can you believe that Amazon actually sells this thing? Just think, what if 20% of one brand of new cars sold in this country stopped running days to months after the purchase? Would anybody sell those cars still?

Now, the Sandisk card is about 2.5 times more expensive than this card, so I’ll be REALLY upset if it starts to misbehave also.
