This was a simple story but for some reason it kept my interest. I put it off for a year or so, despite many recommendations by others. I just kept thinking “oh, another story about slaves from their perspective”. But it was written in such a wonderful way that my interest was piqued in the first few chapters and I was hooked. A book you will NOT regret reading. Which can not be said for many that are on the bestseller list. Look at the review proportions (mostly fives) compared to other so called best sellers. Also, this has staying power on the bestseller list. Enjoy!

I just read the book, now I am 47 and this is what I got out of it: All the adults are not dealing with a troubled youth in a constructive way. I have read some of the reviews and I think they are giving Salenger way to much credit. This is a book where the adults are dumb and the only smart one is the kid sister. My guess is Salinger had a issue with authority figures all his life and let it all out in this book. I can say that I have read it so I can at least discuss it with others but I got no insite into my life from it and neither did Holden by the way. There is lots of cussing for no really good reason in the book. If you took all that out, the story would be the same but it would be much more readable to a larger audiance.
Holden has some real mental issues going but I don’t think society is the cause as my guess Salinger would like us to think. I do think society will be shown as the cause if they ever make a movie or Holden will be shown as some misguided saint. Kind of reminds me of the teenage boy shooters that we have seen over the last few years. I wonder if any one of them have read this book?

The author of the book sparked my interest when I saw her on the Ellen Show a year or so ago. She explained that she had three little babies when she began to write the first book. Maybe I misunderstood or am not remembering, but I thought she had said that she had never thought of writing a book before, but just sat down one day and started to write. It fascinated me that this woman not yet 30 years old writing prolifically while never have written before and having babies on her lap while doing it. I was envious of her, and just wondering how she not only got through one book, but 4 or 5 within such a short time, little experience, and that became so huge. There are so many good writer’s out there who never get noticed because I’m assuming it’s extremely difficult for a publisher to even read your work, let alone think it is good enough to publish. Then after that to get the public to read it, so was really in awe of this woman. Because of this, I had to read her book. I bought it right away on Amazon and couldn’t wait to start reading it. This was about a year ago, and I just now finished it.
No, not a slow reader, but am one of those people who even if I find a book uninteresting, I still have to finish it once started. Yes, I read several in between, hating going back to such a dull, poorly written book. I also have to say that I am 40, and not a teen, so I know that the book does not really focus on my age group. Also, I haven’t seen the movies, and assume the actors and romance make people more interested in the series than the actual plot and writing of the book.
The storyline was uninteresting, and had no depth. The writing was below average in comparison to the majority of writers published and non-published. The romance was ridiculous to me. It was way too intense without reason, and all happened so quickly whereas it seemed liked it should have taken more time. I don’t mean that one can’t have a strong crush on someone and think they

Have been working with MS Works and MS Word Perfect and the old version of Word. Works is good but not that great. About the same for Word Perfect. 2007 version is going to take some getting used to but once I figure it all out, I’m sure I will love it. Amazon did a great job with the order. Once ordered it only took about 3 days and it arrived in very good condition. Amazon does a good job. Will continue using them.
